Why do some not trust what they see, more than what politicians claim?: 5 examples

Although each of us is entitled to our own opinions, we are not allowed to have our own set of facts! When the former President’s Director of Communications felt she needed to refer to her statements as Alternative Facts, and many of her main supporters not only accepted that explanation, but endorsed it (she seemed to agree with this), it should become obvious, there are ramifications. potential, concerning, not only in the immediate term, but also in the medium and long term! Why do some people refuse to accept what they see/witness with their own eyes, instead of what some politicians claim? With that in mind, this article will briefly attempt to consider, examine, review, and discuss 5 examples and why this behavior should be of concern.

1. The pandemic was not a hoax!: President Trump articulated a message that, significantly, disagreed with the views of nearly all public health experts, challenging not just what we saw, but what should have been common sense. After, well, over a year, over 33 million infections and 587,000 deaths, in this nation, and a huge number of cases around the world, it should be obvious, this was not a hoax! Trump started calling it a hoax and a political stunt, then downplayed it, denied it, and declared that he knew better!

two. The largest number of Fake Facts were Trump’s Alternative Facts!: Although the former president blamed, complained, and called anything he disliked or disagreed with false, the reality was that his statements were the biggest source of misinformation. Although highly respected fact-checkers claimed, lied, and made false or misleading statements at an unbelievable rate, it seems, many of his core followers still believed and even revered him, and were drawn to his theories! the conspiracy, which were refuted, often!

3. The so-called tax reform of 2017: Although the tax law changes, passed largely along partisan lines in 2017, were touted as beneficial to the middle class, the reality is that they efficiently benefited the wealthiest people and the largest corporations, and made little (to nothing), to the benefit, most of the others! The Republican politicians, perhaps, believed that it would be politically advantageous, but, rather, they ended up raising it, subtracting it, because it wasn’t! Why do some politicians continue to believe, who consistently fail to serve the best interests of their constituents?

Four. Sane gun safety checks, versus so-called 2nd Amendment rights: How many times, we will continue to hear, some politicians, claim, are protecting, the Constitutional rights, although the number of victims, by firearms, is alarming? Why would anyone need an assault weapon, whether for personal protection or recreation? Although the Second Amendment is known for providing the right to bear arms, its main purpose was to allow individual states the right to have their own militias to protect themselves against foreign risks. Since we search cars and driver’s licenses, why don’t we do the same for guns? How many more must die before we demand smarter security measures?

5. It is important to rely on raw data, rather than biased interpretations: Responsible citizens must empower themselves to understand and interpret the raw data and refuse to blindly accept some politically motivated interpretations!

Wake up, America, and demand better service and representation, from those you choose! The future of this nation, and how we proceed, forward, depends on doing it!
