Trim and Skim Fat

Recently, after extensive dental work, my dentist suggested that I go on a liquid diet. Being a girl from the south, I refused to drink only broth and water. Reluctantly, I went to the grocery store and bought the best soup on the shelves. I got home, opened the can and added my freshly ground pepper. Between the Novocain and Motrin drool, I thought the soup was pretty good. After 2 days of soup, the soup started to taste bland. On the third day, I added cayenne for flavor. However, all I could taste was the cayenne in the mushy soup. My little mommy decided to make me some of her homemade chicken soup. In all my years, I could never remember my mother making homemade chicken soup. I guess it’s been a while since she was home and I got to experience my mom’s home cooking.

He started with organic chicken, added spices and boiled the chicken. She let the broth from the boiled chicken cool overnight and skimmed the fat from the broth the next morning. Then she added fresh corn that he cut off the cob and chopped carrots, onions, green onions, potatoes and diced chicken pieces to perfection. It sounds slow, but hmm, if you could taste it. After trying my mother’s homemade soup, I couldn’t tolerate canned soup anymore. The difference between canned soup and homemade soup is inexplicable. For the next 3 days my mom made fresh homemade soup. Did she take her longer to get ready? She did she did it. It was worth the wait? I can give a resounding and unequivocal YES.

Often our approach to physical activity and any major life change is a lot like the soup on the shelves. It is convenient to obtain it and therefore it becomes our source of comfort.

To reach a new destination or goals, it is worth the preparation and the extra time to TRIM and ELIMINATE the fat.

Trimming and skimming fat requires:

1. Faith: Faith is a belief that is not based on logical proof or material evidence. You must have faith that you can and will achieve any goal you set for yourself. See yourself as a happy, successful, and healthy individual. Poor diet and nutrition is often a reflection of an area of our lives that is suffering from neglect. Carelessness begins to manifest itself in overeating, excessive drinking, oversleeping, and habits that are not conducive to a better and healthier life.

2. Acceptance: It means that you are valuable just the way you are. Have you ever thought about the growth and development stages of a newborn baby? From conception, each element was predetermined before birth. The color and shape of your eyes to the shape and angle of your toenails were predetermined to make you YOU. Examine yourself and design a change plan to create the happiness you deserve.

3. Patience: The definition of patience is to be constant or the ability to endure delay without becoming angry or upset – Remaining calm in the face of adversity – Being constant in the midst of a storm. In a fast-paced environment where things can be obtained without work, we often get tired of reaching our goals and ambitions.

4. Skill: Skill is the ability to perform or do something successfully to a high degree of skill or general competence. If you are breathing and healthy, your abilities are endless. The only disabilities that exist are the ones we put on ourselves.

5. Preparation: Procrastination is murder at your ultimate destination. Procrastination can be our worst enemy. It can stifle our progress and limit our possibilities. Start by planning every hour of every day to get things done.

6. Attitude: Your attitude can be a general opinion/feeling. Attitude is a choice. Every morning when you wake up you have a choice. You can choose to be happy or miserable. Being miserable and negative is useless. Negativity depresses those around you and wastes energy. Channel negative energy towards things that can turn situations to a positive outcome.

7. Habit: Research shows that if you do something consistently for 21 days in a row, it will become a habit. Today, start by evaluating your good and bad habits. Evaluate positive and negative self-talk. Make a list of good and bad clothes.

8. Healing: Letting go of the past and pressing into the future. In order to heal physically and emotionally, you must first admit that there is a problem. Once you are ready to deal with the symptoms,

the healing process can begin.

To make positive changes in your life, start with an evaluation of your daily life and your goals. Cut out and eliminate negative energy and people from your daily life. Know that each day will be different. And each new day you have the opportunity to do better. Be your best…every day.
