Home Base Loan Officer Positions

If you’re a loan officer looking for a little more freedom and flexibility in your workday, you may want to consider a home-based loan officer position.

Most mortgage broker shops will allow you to work from home once you have been trained on their system and accustomed to their products and services.

Most mortgage companies, including banks, prefer to have their mortgage representatives work from home because it saves the company money in the form of office space.

Finding a home base loan officer position shouldn’t be too difficult if you’re looking in the right places. Most of the loan officer positions you see in search ads and Yahoo job postings include work from home in their job description.

Working from home can have its challenges at times, so make sure it’s the right option for you.

For example, I was a loan officer working for a mortgage company. After six months of in-office training, I made the decision to work from home.

After working from my home base for about three months, I started to feel lonely. I started to miss the camaraderie I once had with my coworkers at the office.

I began to feel like I was no longer part of the rat race.

And while they provided me with all the necessary equipment to operate a home office, I still felt I was missing some of the resources a large office had to offer.

My advice to you would be this. If you decide to work from home, consider partnering with another loan officer to work with you. Obviously one that you like and trust, just so you have someone to bounce things off of, at least.

Or, work from your home base on your own for a while to see if you like it. If you start to feel like the environment is a bit stagnant, then consider bringing in another loan officer to work with you.

In the end, if a home-based loan officer position is what you want, then go for it, it may be the right one for you. The beauty of the loan officer position is that we have so many options, so if you don’t like the home environment, come back to the office.
