If you are considering a vacation in Germany, a trip to Hannover may be just what you are looking for! Located in north-central Germany, Hannover is home to all kinds of interesting attractions. Although much of the city was destroyed in WWII, most of it has been rebuilt. Today, visitors flock to places like the Royal Gardens, the State Opera, and the great market church, located in the old town. Hannover Zoo is one of the best in all of Europe and is a must-see if you spend some time in the city.

Once you’ve seen enough of Hannover, it’s easy to venture into the surrounding area! Its centralized location makes it a great place if you are looking to visit any of the nearby towns, such as Wunstorf, and the relaxing Steinhuder Meer National Park. Perhaps you want to head to Braunschweig and see one of the most interesting buildings in Germany, the creative expressionist Rizzi-Haus. No matter where you go, you are sure to discover that Hannover is truly one of the most underrated cities in Germany.

Take a look at Bremen, Germany

Bremen is another fantastic less traveled German city. It’s no wonder that travelers from all over the world flock to Bremen throughout the year for various activities, festivals, and events. One must visit the location is the old part of the city. The Market Square is lined with all kinds of old Gothic buildings. There you will find a statue of the protector of the city, “Roland”, which is more than 600 years old. Wine enthusiasts will want to visit the Ratskeller, which houses the twelve oldest wines in the world, stored in their original barrels, dating back to 1653. A fun idea after a few drinks is to stroll to the Rhododendron-Park Bremen, which is home to beautiful gardens, streams and meadows.

From Bremen, you have easy access to many of Germany’s coastal cities. Places like Wangerland offer ocean views, access to delicious local seafood, and ferry ports to picturesque north shore islands like Spiekeroog. Of course, you can also head south and visit Hannover for world-class theater. Wherever you go, Bremen is a great place to make your base of operations during your next vacation in Germany.
