Do you know the Origin of Basketball?

Do you know the origin of basketball?
The origins of the game of basketball can be traced back to a gentleman named Dr. James Naismith. In 1861, Naismith was born in Almonte, Ontario, Canada. During his early school days, Naismith played a game called duck on a rock in which the boy endeavored to knock the duck off the top of the rock with the throw of another rock.
Naismith would later go to McGill University in Montreal and later become the Athletic Director of McGill University. He would later transfer to the YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts and in 1891, he started the game of basketball.
Given the cold winters in Massachusetts, Naismith needed to find a recreational activity that could be played indoors and preferred a sport that developed skill and did not rely solely on strength. The first game was played with two peach baskets for goals and a soccer ball.
In addition to his credit, Naismith became a physician specializing in sports physiology and a Presbyterian minister. Naismith was able to see his beloved sport of basketball gain acceptance in numerous countries through the YMCA as far back as 1893. Additionally, the sport of basketball was featured at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. As we speak, the game of basketball has become a very popular professional sport.
