Crowning Blessings – A Fun Lesson on Biblical Objects for Kids

God’s wonderful blessings abound! The creation of him alone says a lot about the wonderful creative nature of him. Here’s a fun object lesson on God’s ultimate blessings to help you consider God’s goodness.

This is what you do:

The object you will use for this lesson will be a crown. I just found a nice ornate plastic crown at one of my local party stores. But you could even use a crown that you create out of construction paper if you’d like.

Hold up your crown and ask the following questions to help stimulate discussion.

1. What am I holding? (Expect answers like “a crown”.)

2. What is a crown for? (Expect answers like “a king or queen wears it to show they’re royalty or special in some way.”)

3. Is a crown ever given for any reason other than royalty? (Wait for responses. If they have difficulty, explain that the Romans used to award crowns to athletes who were excellent in their sports fields. In the United States, we crown a woman Miss America because she has proven that she deserves it.) be honored for her character and beauty.)

4. Have a child read Psalm 65:11. (I used the New King James version.)

5. Say the following: “This verse shows us that God gives a crown to a year filled with His blessings. Let’s learn 3 important points about this truth.”

point one On a farm, harvest time is the best time of the year. This is when all the farmer’s hard work finally pays off and God rewards him with wonderful fruits and vegetables. It could be said that at harvest time you have to reward yourself with a crown for all the good that is given.

point two God gives us great times of blessing just like he gives the farmer during harvest time. But his blessings don’t always come at certain times of the year. They can be found every day in our lives. He watches over us when we sleep or when we wake up. His love is like a river for us that has no end. But sometimes God’s blessings are very special. You could say they deserve a crown!

point three God’s extra special blessings deserve an extra special thank you to God. Since He has given you blessings worthy of a crown, praise Him who deserves a crown. Be grateful for all that He has done.

After you finish your lesson, you can have the children draw a wreath that contains an illustration of a recent blessing they have received from God. Have fun!
